Manchester selectmen tackle delinquent tax headaches
Manchester selectmen confront tax collection headaches weeks after the March delinquent date. The issue stems from a December decision to turn over old accounts to Williams Williams Seaver of Poultney for collection, covering taxes up to October 1972 and including 1973 delinquencies. Attorney Howard Seaver advised on who to bill, while Selectman I Stanford Zecher and Town Treasurer Harold Wisell resisted full turnover. Seaver proposed two paths and outlined procedures for court actions and tax sales. The board ultimately agreed to include 1974 delinquents for those already on the list, with Seaver having collected about $8,000 in back taxes to date.
