UCS Staff Backs Bennington Program Amid Board Attacks

United Counseling Service staff in Bennington publicly support the Bennington Program facing opposition from three Mt. Anthony Union School Board members. In a letter to Principal Charles W. Keir, they stress the program behind an unorthodox education for youths failing the regular system, acknowledge potential problems, and praise its honest effort. The program, led by Ralph Wright, began with a month long hike and has involved a play, urban-area trips, and sessions at the University of Vermont and Johnson State College, returning March 29. Signers include Joseph LoPiccolo, Ruth Douglas, Joanne R. Eusden, and many others from UCS.
