Manchester selectmen approved adding a regular officer to the two person force as of July 1. Police Chief Dana L Thompson outlined duties shifting from a crossing guard and a parking meter officer to the new officer. The annual cost is $3,640, offset by $250 for meter patrol and $1,344 for crossing guard and related costs.
Manchester officials report on police staffing, sewer extensions, and roadwork. Selectmen discuss a new patrolman, sewer line to the elementary school, and school funding. Special town meeting rules, liquor licenses, and governing notices are announced along with ski race events at Snow Valley on Saturday.
Manchester writer George Clay and Cooperstown physician Dr John Mithoefer have launched Indecks a self contained punched card kit for organizing academic and scientific notes. The system uses 104 category holes on 200 cards with sorting rods allowing rapid retrieval by year or topic and aims to bring computer like cross indexing to students and researchers.

The Rev Robert L Clayton of Zion Episcopal Church attended a joint Faith and Order Committee Vermont Council of Churches and Ecumenical Commission of the Roman Catholic Dioceses of Vermont meeting in Newbury. Papers on Christian Witness were read as part of preparations for the July 1967 New England Ecumenical Council. Twenty members of Harned-Fowler Post 6471 VFW and its auxiliary aided in instituting the new PFC Post 9652 VFW covering Poultney Fair Haven and Castleton. Several local post members and other dignitaries attended the gathering.
