Army Charges 14 Officers Over My Lai Coverup
Washington reports that 14 Army officers including West Point’s two star superintendent face charges for suppressing information about the My Lai massacre. The three month probe found no details of the incident reached Westmoreland or the Pentagon and traced the suppression through the Americal Division chain of command. The original inquiry had suggested about 20 noncombatants were killed amid crossfire and preparatory fire.

Wounded Pilot Lands Jet After Copilot Slain
A Boston bound Eastern Airlines DC9 landed safely at Logan Airport after a gunman shot and killed the copilot. Captain Robert W. Wilbur Jr. fought the attacker and guided the jet in with the copilot dead beside him. The suspect, John J. Di Vivo, was wounded and in Massachusetts General Hospital. The incident occurred near Franklin Massachusetts after the shooter claimed he lacked funds for his $15.75 ticket.

Fire Destroys Abandoned Kaolin Mill on Lyons District Road
A spectacular fire last night razed the old kaolin works on Lyons District Road. Bennington Rural Fire Department responded, but the ramshackle mill was fully engulfed by 10:30 pm. About 300 spectators watched as flames roared and smoke stretched miles north. Lighter-fluid cans found nearby led investigators to suspect arson. The owner, S C Lyons of Dry Branch Ga, has long complained of taxes on the site. The blaze remains smoldering, with a police inquiry ongoing. Abortion Reform Killed in Vermont Senate Vote
