The library reports a $47 000 budget with $36 400 from town funds and the rest from endowment income and other sources. Salaries form about two thirds, reflecting longer hours and expanded children's staffing. Building maintenance remains similar to last year as planning for painting and upgrading electrical systems proceeds. Books and periodicals account for most expense, with $8 300 allocated this year, about 58 percent to adult nonfiction, 20 percent to new adult fiction, 10 percent to juveniles, and 10 percent to periodicals. the library notes rising book costs and growing circulation across adults and children, emphasizing current, accurate information as vital. Special grants and Widker Fund income support the collection, and a St Patrick’s Day display is planned in the lobby.
