Henry H. Mallory won the village presidency by 129 votes over Richard Hollister, 536 to 407, in Bennington Village where 943 ballots were cast. Voters rejected a coin operated parking meter plan 642 to 202, while approving three other measures including a 28 cent tax raise and a $20,000 sinking fund expansion for the water system. A 2 cent reimbursement for water and sewer connections and a 6 cent extension of the water system 800 feet to Morgan Street were also authorized.

More Drought Predicted For Northeast
WASHINGTON UPI North eastern states face the prospect of another year of the severest drought on record despite late winter storms.
