Six State Positions Abolished by Vermont Board
The Emergency Board in Montpelier abolished six state government positions and created five new posts, two of which will be fully funded by federal dollars. It approved 6,953 to cover Public Service Board back rent after its move to private quarters, while a 3,000 request for other operating expenses was tabled pending PSB details. The buildings division received 7,500 for new power lines at the Montpelier meat inspection lab, and 50,000 was moved inside the Mental Health Department from a nonimplemented program to the Brandon Training Center and State Hospital food budget. Dr. Jonathan Leopold cited hospital mergers as the reason a planned psychiatric services project was cancelled, limiting usable funds for hospital meals.
