Cancer Crusade drive set for April in Bennington
April 11 is set for the collection of contributions as Bennington and surrounding areas kick off a cancer fund drive. Cochairmen Mrs. Stephen H. Gilman and Mrs. Stanley R. Pike urge porch light events and canvassing in Bennington, Old Bennington and North Bennington starting at 7 p.m. Major General Ernest N. Harmon notes Vermont’s strong spendable income and high contribution growth, with 60 percent staying in state. Forty percent goes to the national fund, a quarter of which supports basic research including state grants in radiology and pathology.
