Union Carbide Points to New Business Opportunities
Union Carbide’s 1965 annual report shows about a quarter of the research budget for basic science to fuel new business lines. Highlights include a sodium metal polyethylene cable, a ultra-thin parylene film for capacitors, graphite fiber for aerospace use, ocean engineering diving systems, underwater plant growth studies, and a pharmaceutical group examining drug effects on mice. The firm plans over 300 million dollars for new construction.
