Bennington bypass and planning debated by Mallory
Village president Mallory backs John Burdis Associates proposals including a downtown bypass to ease traffic and a new 30 to 40 space off street parking lot with possible metering to be decided by voters. He criticizes the Burdis mall plan for potentially hurting merchants, supports a 3.5 percent pay hike for village employees, and promises action on building safety and fire code while noting long range planning requires trustees consent and the strong assist of the current charter. He applauds the volunteer fire department and questions funding salaried firemen under a rising tax burden.
