Saigon forces seize Sepone in Laos amid heavy fighting
Saigon said its forces captured Sepone inside Laos and destroyed 13,139 tons of Communist munitions and 1,341 tons of food in a month long Laos operation. The advance reduced Ho Chi Minh Trail traffic to a minimum as 700 troops moved into Sepone with similar numbers to the north and south. Government spokesmen reported 250 North Vietnamese killed in an 18 hour clash inside Laos, while U.S. air power targeted the trail area with more than 1,000 American aircraft supporting the drive.
