Fire Destroys Garage At Baker Nurseries In West Hoosick
A large building at Baker's Nurseries in West Hoosick burned to the ground on Monday afternoon. Three employees narrowly escaped with minor burns. Kenneth Brownell, the most severely burned, was taken to Putnam Memorial Hospital. The other two, Charles Filkins and Donald Baker, were treated at a Hoosick Falls doctor’s office. Fire officials say the blaze began from a gas stove explosion while workers were on a truck. Firefighters from West Hoosick, Hoosick Falls, and North Hoosick fought the blaze, saving the Baker home and nearby buildings.
