Reid Lefevre Says Oakes Is Coy About 1968 Governor Bid
Burlington UP I reports Rep. Reid Lefevre accuses Atty. Gen. James Oakes of avoiding an explicit 1968 gubernatorial bid. Lefevre suggests Oakes seemed to run in 1962, notes Oakes declined to confirm, and says he hopes Oakes will enter the race. He also pushes for Derick Webb's chair term ending in October and criticizes party cohesion under Mallory leadership. Lefevre questions the partisan tilt of the current House and nerves about passing a large welfare measure, proposing a delay for study.
