Vermont Eyes Educational TV Network Reach
William J. Lewis of the University of Vermont says public support and funds are needed to launch an ETV network in Vermont within years. Federal bills may supply about 1 million for equipment and facilities with 500000 more for operations, plus local funding. Vermont seeks a transmitter at Mt Ascutney and may petition FCC to move Channel 26 from Hanover to Mt Ascutney or discontinue New London channel to avoid conflicts. The Ford Foundation study, two thirds complete, covers technical legal fiscal and administrative aspects and will guide state decisions.
