Washington area members backed or opposed amendments on food stamps sugar subsidy abortion and other issues. Notable votes included rejecting food stamp cuts 154 to 262 and sugar subsidy 119 to 272 while abortion funding was banned 202 to 155. A one day U S Post Office at the Battle Monument Bennington August 16 1977 will issue a commemorative cachet hand canceled Battle Monument Station The cachet designed by Robert Morse features an aerial view of the monument over the Bennington flag Proceeds go to Green Mountain Stamp Society and Bennington Bicentennial Committee Prices 50 cents per cachet 25 cents for cadets available at various events and offices.
