Ben Het Camp Siege Seen With High Enemy Price
UPI reports from Kontum say North Vietnamese forces surrounding Ben Het have suffered heavy losses with B52 strikes and artillery. Lt. Col. Andrew Marquis, 43, says the enemy has accomplished nothing and is paying a tremendous price. Sixty bombs fell Thursday and Friday, with 127 artillery rounds wounding three Americans and two South Vietnamese. Reinforcements were pulled back, leaving a mix of Green Berets, artillerymen, and South Vietnamese troops. Light activity continues elsewhere in the country amid shelling of nine towns and camps. Two civilians died in Phu Hoa.

Conn ACLU to Test Non Public School Aid
Hartford based Connecticut Civil Liberties Union plans to challenge in court the Non Public School Secular Education Act that would grant 20 percent of teacher salaries and reimburse secular book costs to parochial and non religious schools. Emanuel N. Psarkis, executive director, says the law breaches First and Fourteenth Amendments and the Connecticut Constitution’s Seventh Amendment and questions feasibility of defining secular subjects. The group seeks appropriate plaintiffs and notes several agencies and citizens are likely to join.
