Rural Voters OK Portable Classroom in Bennington District
Voters in the Greater Bennington School District approved a $10,000 expenditure for a 42 by 20 foot portable classroom to house a seventh grade class at Molly Stark School. The 25 cent tax rate increase funds delivery and setup this summer for September occupancy. The unit will sit near the junior high wing and is intended as temporary relief from overcrowding until a union high school bond issue or permanent plans are made.

Escaping Gas Frightens Falls Residents in Tank Spill
Hoosick Falls residents fled a three story tenement and surrounding block after a Blue Flame Gas Company worker dropped a gas tank at 37 Church St. The tank cracked spilling fumes onto Church Street prompting an evacuation led by on call former fire chief William Hennessey. Residents returned after the area was secured and smoking was prohibited.
