Vermont CEO Puts Legal Aid Future to Bar Association
MONTPELIER UP I The state director of the Office of Economic Opportunity says federal funded legal aid to the needy hinges on the Vermont Bar Association. Thomas C. Davis of Montpelier said no program could work without Bar Assn support, while remaining optimistic about CEO funded services as part of the War on Poverty. He noted no federal proposal will be made until the Bar Assn Board of Managers meets in July and mentioned changes to the initial $150000 to $200000 legal fees plan. Davis met with Waldo C. Holden, Bennington, president of the State Bar Assn., who agreed such services are a trend. A subcommittee led by Atty. Keith King has disapproved the program.
