Half Hearted Support of Knowles System in Manchester Hearing
In Manchester two Board of Civil Authority members gave only half hearted support for following the Knowles system of property appraisal as attorney Sydney Meachem charged during the fourth tax appeal hearing. He attacked the listers for lack of integrity and fair play while highlighting disputed assessments on properties owned by Henry van Loon and Leonard Tenner, noting significant tax pressures and objections to improvements not altering value. The session saw several disqualifications from voting and appeals from Montague and Hilliard, with residents defending intact parcels against subdivision plans.
