Berkeley Free Church liturgy draws hippie crowd in 1967 style
In Berkeley the Free Church, a joint ecumenical venture with two ministers and a theologian in residence, hosts a Friday night liturgy with rock, folk, Gregorian chant, and a “freedom meal.” The service blends unconventional rites with traditional elements and has grown to about 100 attendees in a 25 by 40 foot space near Telegraph Avenue.
