Battick Victorious on Civil Rights Claim in Court Case
Convicted killer Edward M. Battick, serving a life term for Manchester Police Chief Dana Thompson’s 1972 murder, won a civil rights challenge in U.S. District Court over a “special offender” designation. He failed to prove his transfer from Vermont was illegal or that he should serve his sentence in Vermont. Battick has been treated in federal facilities after Windsor State Prison closed, and was wounded in the Whipple’s Pharmacy shootout that left Thompson dead.
