United Nations Secretary General Thant reported Friday night that both Syria and Israel issued cease-fire orders. The briefing cited a halt to hostilities and urged adherence from all armed factions.

Aiken Says Johnson Team Ineffective on Vietnam End

Reds Demand Israeli Forces Withdraw

Raynolds Seeks Officials on Burr and Burton Board

Vermont education chairman Harold Raynolds urged that town officials whose residents attend Burr and Burton Seminary be named to the school’s board to improve articulation among schools and oversee public funds. He suggested advisory seats until a charter change via Legislature. The state board praised BBS academically but noted lacks in industrial arts and homemaking curricula.

Putnam Square Silent Vigil Continues

A Friday evening silent vigil in Putnam Square drew 39 participants who stood along the northeast fence for an hour to protest the Vietnam War. Black armbands were available, mimeographed statements were offered, and police observed seven officers nearby with no incidents reported. The group plans to return for another vigil between 5 and 6 pm next Friday.
