Communists Battle Saigon Areas In Heavy Overnight Fighting
Widespread attacks targeted American bases defending Saigon as Communist forces moved near Tay Ninh and An Loc. In the day’s fiercest combat near An Loc, U.S. 1st Infantry Division fought through the night, with U.S. losses at three dead and 27 wounded and enemy casualties reported at 199. Near Tay Ninh City, battles raged with U.S. 25th Infantry Division units claiming multiple enemy kills and American casualties of one dead and 14 wounded.
