Springfield Eyes Sale of Surplus Power From Dam Plan
Springfield officials told a legislative committee they could sell about 35 percent of power from a proposed Black River dam system. Voters approved the $58 million plan, amid opposition in Cavendish and Weathersfield over eminent domain. Officials say sales would be to nearby towns and cheaper than CVPS, while stressing the project explores energy options and not competition. The committee will hear Weathersfield on June 18 and then tour the proposed site after all towns testify.
