Liberty's Chosen Home: The Politics of Violence in Boston
A Boston reviewer reviews Alan Lupo's 1977 study on Boston's racial and class strife from 200 years of history to the 1974 school desegregation crisis. The book links Irish, black, and Yankee factions, Republican-era reforms, and urban renewal to the desegregation clashes, praising parts on history but faulting the White-centered second half and prose.
