Mt Anthony board ends coordinators to fund new MAU building
The Mt Anthony Union board voted to abolish the teacher coordinator system at the high school and junior high, replacing it with two full time general supervisors. They also approved priorities for federal public works funds including roof and heating repairs, a North Bennington school renovation, and a new vocational education and office building. The plan aims to free space and possibly add a 4,500 square foot special education facility, funded largely by the state, at an estimated $25,000 cost to MAU. A grievance threat from the teachers union was noted, with discussions urged to ease transition and preserve budget for staffing.

Robert Underhill, a 50 year old veteran coach with 26 years in the sport, was unanimously approved by the Mt. Anthony Union School board as head football coach. He comes from Newport High New Hampshire where his teams posted a 96 46 4 record with five state titles and nine all state quarterbacks. Underhill replaces Ken Liporto and will earn about 14000 on the MAU pay scale. He will join MAU track coach Steve Zemianek on staff.
