Hiring of former trustee stirs Falls board clash

Falls village board split 3-2 in a July 13 vote to hire Edwin J. Schneider, a former Independent trustee with 23 years self employed and milk route experience, as a truck driver in training for village heavy equipment. Democrats oppose amid questions of qualifications and a vacuum of outside candidates from a pool of 16 applicants. The mayor and several independents defend the hire, noting others were also qualified and that the decision followed a formal application process.
