Sacco and Vanzetti case judged justified by trooper

A retired state trooper who worked on the Sacco Vanzetti case 50 years ago says the executions were justified and Gov. Dukakis was right to review the case. Louis J. Peracchi, 77, calls the governor’s stance sad but maintains the convictions and their executions were warranted. He recalls infiltrating radicals and notes the men were declared anarchists, now viewed as possible communists. He also reflects on the seven year case, defense funding, and the mob at funerals.

Berkshire Court Denies Music Inn Injunction Request

Superior Court Justice Paul A. Tamburello rejected Stockbridge selectmen's bid for a preliminary injunction to bar Music Inn from rock concerts and its restaurant lounge. The March 1970 permit restricted outdoor stage use in a courtyard with 1500 capacity and a July summer concert season, with the venue moved to a natural theater nearby. The judge said immediate drastic action to affect 1977 operations was not proven and would impose economic hardship on Music Inn.
