Women on the Alaska pipeline line redefine camp life
In Coldfoot Alaska 55 miles north of the Arctic Circle 749 workers live in a rugged camp as 55 women join a male dominated pipeline crew. They handle kitchens office duties and dorm work while earning about 9 71 an hour plus room and board. Many plan stays for five months to save money and move on to new Alaska projects as Alyeska says 2809 of 24464 employees are women.
