Bennington College Critics See Peaceful Era and Reform
Bennington College is described as an island of calm with no campus uprisings due to early reforms and student participation. Thomas P. Brockway notes 1930s policies, lack of alumni, a young faculty, and Dewey influences fostered experimentation and shared governance. A Shaftsbury boy incident and local civic notes accompany the Rotary lunch.
