Vermont Sign Debate Focuses On Directional Signs And Size

Billboards continued from page one as speakers urged cooperation of industry and lawmakers on sign plazas and directories. Robert J. Gilroy pressed for scenic beauty with limits, noting Vermont law lacks directional signs though Section 3634 covers them. Proposals called for four signs per business, under 32 square feet, spaced carefully, with larger directional signs and uniform design. Stakeholders from hotels to billboard firms debated signage definitions, readability, and impact on small business. A separate note described celestial observations near Cassiopeia and the star Caph as the night sky departs toward summer.
