Clamshell Seabrook price tag hits 3 billion
The antinuclear Clamshell Alliance said the Seabrook 2300 megawatt plant would cost at least 3 billion if completed, revising higher from 850 million in 1972 and 2 billion last October. Spokeswoman Cathy Wolff cited rising costs and disputes over figures, noting PSC toll free figures show 2.5 billion while NRC data suggests 2.08 billion. The PSC says a 20 percent rate hike is needed to continue construction and urges dropping the project.
