Dunes Alive With Hidden Life Says Scientist
Delaware biologist William H. Amos reports in National Geographic June issue on Cape Henlopen Dunes. Insects mammals and reptiles endure extreme heat with fur scales and shade seeking, while many predators including doodlebugs haunt sand pits and dune ponds host microscopic creatures. Dunes migrate inland five to fourteen feet yearly and eventually die as vegetation stabilizes them.
