Tobacco Road at Dorset treats tragedy as satire

The Caravan Theatre stages Tobacco Road adapted by Jack Kirkland, delivering tight pacing and strong performances led by Charles Dickens as Jeeter Lester and Elizabeth Franz as Ada. The production blends bleak humor with social critique, though Ada’s offstage death timing sparks light critique of staging. Also notes a local screening of The Narrow Ridge course at St James Episcopal Church in Arlington with sessions from 6 to 10 pm tonight and 1 to 5:30 pm Sunday.
