Compton Armory Heist Sparks Terrorism Probe
Robbers stole an arsenal from a National Guard armory in Compton on July 4, lifting 96 M16 rifles and seven machine guns along with bayonets tear gas grenades gas masks and ammunition. FBI Treasury and Army investigators joined Compton police as they investigated potential terrorist or gang motives and noted firing pins had been removed to render many guns useless.
