Reduced Budget for Manchester Village Budget Meeting Next Week

Voters in Manchester Village will gather at 8 p.m. July 10 to approve a lean 1967 68 budget and elect officers for the coming year. Village president G Murray Campbell notes the budget is largely housekeeping and the taxes to be raised total 34 249, down 2 64 from last year. Incumbent trustees Francis E Smalley and Stephen Bresko face re election questions with Smalley not seeking another term due to work commitments. If two or more seek the office, ballots will be cast. Tax relief comes from larger refunds from the town of Manchester: last year 7 617 and this year 11 350. Unspent 3 000 from sidewalks trees and resurfacing is available for the new budget, with articles including 3596 to match state aid for road and library improvements and 2000 for tree trimming on US 7. If all pass the tax rate will be about 1 15 per 100 of market value. Campbell notes the rate is tied to assessed property values. Alpena Michigan UPI Linda Kaye Christie, 18, National Cherry Queen, returns home for Alpena strawberry festival parade.
