Nine year old Anne Russell to perform with NYC Ballet
Just Pokin Around notes eight to nine year old Anne Russell daughter of Mrs Bette Russell former Bennington High School faculty member and the late William A Russell appears this summer with the New York City Ballet in Midsummer Night's Dream at the Saratoga Performing Arts Center. Final performance is Sunday afternoon July 6 at 3 30 p.m. She previously danced in Nutcracker and studied at Orlando School of Dance in Schenectady under Orlando and Eleanor Pigliavento. Her grandfather is Mrs William B Russell of Babcock Lake Petersburgh NY.

The library announces new fiction and general titles led by Abrahams O Henry awards works and Oates Barth with varied themes from diplomatic novels to 1920s Pittsburgh society. Juvenile and science titles include Drummer Hoff and Junior Science Book of Beavers while garden and agriculture yearbooks are offered for general readers.

Highest Moose Honor given to Mrs Baczek at Mooseheart event
Mrs. Stanley Baczek of 546 Main St became the first Bennington Chapter Women of the Moose member to earn the College of Regents degree the order’s top honor. She traveled with 850 others to Mooseheart Illinois for the ceremony, later touring Mooseheart and its Mooseheart community facilities.

VFEW Auxiliary Plans Summer Activities and Meetings
A joint post and auxiliary meeting was held June 24. A family picnic is planned for Barber's Pond on Sunday, July 20, with sign ups due by July 17. Co-chairs are Janet Campbell and Wilma Costa and Ernie Costa. A steak supper is set for Saturday 6 to 8 p.m. at the VFW Home followed by dancing to George O'Brien's orchestra. Plans include a junior girls unit with adviser team Janet Campbell, Doris Kinney, and Theresa Greene. Members sign up daughters via Mrs Campbell. The next regular meeting is Tuesday July 8 at 8 p.m. at the VFW Hall. Corrine Casna is welcomed as a new auxiliary member.
