Dorset mother chains protests at New York induction center

Mrs. Robert Crawford Ransom of Dorset Vermont and Bronxville joined two other women and four clergy members in chaining themselves to an avowed draft resister at an Army induction center on Whitehall Street. A staff sergeant demanded the chains be cut as Barry Johnson, 26, a former seminary student, explained he was reporting for induction to refuse the symbolic step forward with friends inside.
