CSSV warns Vermont backs environment to favor economics
The Conservation Society of Southern Vermont says state policy shifts in Montpelier and Washington push environmental safeguards aside for business interests. It cites Vermont pesticide 245-T and gamma emission regulation delays as proof, while noting President Ford's push to extend auto emission standards until 1981 and potential higher costs and lower fuel efficiency for cars.

Vermont hay crop outlook bright as sun boosts quality
UPI reports Vermont agronomist Winston Way says sunny weather has improved the first hay crop quality and prices, estimating $65 to $75 per ton. He adds the sun could yield a strong corn crop for silage, easing dairies’ roughage needs this winter, though the outcome hinges on the second hay crop. About half the first hay crop has been harvested and farmers typically begin after July 4.
