Hoosick Falls contributed to the eighth annual United Cerebral Palsy Telethon with a local calling center at the National Commercial Bank and Trust Company. The weekend show on WTEN-TV Channel 10 raised pledges and donations totaling 207,599 dollars from 11 p.m. Saturday to 6 p.m. Sunday.

Dorset Couple's Son Wins Presidential Citation
Lt Cmdr Thomas Wallace Finnegan of the U S Coast Guard earned a Presidential citation and the Air Medal for a 31 January 1967 rescue at Rock Mountain overlook in Alaska. Despite wind and rotor clearance challenges he performed four hoists to save two men exposed to freezing conditions. Finnegan, a 1957 Coast Guard Academy graduate, has served a decade and is aboard the cutter Northwind on an oceanographic Be ring Sea mission. He is married with three children.
