U S Urges Security Council Action On Pueblo Seizure

United States accuses North Korea of a wanton seizure of the USS Pueblo in international waters and urges the UN Security Council to act promptly to secure release of the ship and its 83 crew. The council adjourned after a two hour session as Washington presses for united action.

North Korean Air Force Steps Up MIG Flights

North Korea expanded MIG jet activity amid U S carrier Enterprise moves and increased American air presence in South Korea. Seoul officials sighted at least 40 Soviet era MIGs north of the demarcation line since Thursday night as tensions rose over the Pueblo seizure and its crew. Washington warned Pyongyang not to treat Pueblo crew as criminals, while Hankook Ilbo reported the Enterprise diverted toward Pohang in southeast proximity to Seoul.

Senate kills billboard removal resolution in Montpelier

Changes In Vermont Seen As Rapid Since 1937

Walter Hard Jr of Vermont Life told Bennington Rotary Club that attitudes toward Vermont have shifted more in the last 30 years than in the previous 200. He outlined four periods from 1940 onward, noting influx, fears of change, postwar dissatisfaction, school and legislative issues, and in the 1960s rising concerns about physical development.
