Older Americans who missed the Keeping Healthy After Sixty two way radio conferences can listen to four rebroadcasts on WAMC 90.3 FM from 7 30 to 8 30 p m on four consecutive Wednesdays starting February 2 The broadcasts cover Medicare heart arthritis and strokes with faculty answering questions from 12 conference sites across a ten county region More than 1 100 people attended the original sessions and WAMC pioneered the two way radio format for continuing education in 1955

Scuba and skin diving courses offered at Northern Berkshire YMCA
Northern Berkshire YMCA in North Adams Mass offers winter courses in skin diving for ages 12 to 16 and 16 plus and scuba diving for 16 plus. Classes run Tuesday or Thursday at 9 p.m. with pool practice and a certificate of accomplishment. YMCA facilities include health clubs, saunas, and steam room. About 50 people attended the Pownal citizens caucus to nominate officers for the coming year. Charles Mason was chosen chairman and Mrs. Rachel Mason clerk. Several candidates were named for selectman, auditor, road commissioner, constables, tax collector, trustees, and school posts with a Feb. 5 consent deadline and elections set for March 7.

Falls students solicit for Hayden memorial fund
About 180 Hoosick Falls Central School students will canvass for donations to the Jack Hayden Memorial Fund. Hayden died last October from injuries in a school football game. The drive aims to raise at least $3,500, with $2,225 already raised, under coach Rich Turi and the football team aided by faculty.
