Lefevre backs full time highway board in Vermont

Man fined for tossing beer can in Vermont highway
Leonard Archambaudt pleaded guilty in Bennington District Court to anti littering after admitting he pitched a beer can from his car. Judge George M. Fienberg noted culverts and ditches count as part of the highway and that waste accumulates there. Archambaudt was fined $10 plus costs and police had tracked him down after he stopped to retrieve the can. A court spectator quipped that if $10 fines were collected for every can, funds could build a superhighway.

Assistant planning engineer Stearns Jenkins told a legislative committee that Vermont moved from an interstate style U.S. 7 corridor concept to a four lane at grade highway from Rutland to Bennington.
