Battle Looms Over Battle Day Fete
Bennington residents await a clash over who runs the Battle Day celebration. The Bennington Fire Department threatened to drop plans if not allowed to control the event, amid talks of a $2000 appropriation and a town committee sharing oversight with other groups. Fire Chief Charles Sawyer warned a multi group committee could cause confusion while vowing a strong turnout if left to the department.
