Weeb Ewbank Plans Return as Jets Coach in 1969

New York Jets coach Weeb Ewbank, 61, was expected to announce plans to return as coach for the 1969 AFL season. Although reports suggested he might step down to focus on general manager duties, analysts doubt such a move with star QB Joe Namath leading the team. Ewbank had guided the Jets to their first AFL title and a Super Bowl upset of the Colts, and previously won NFL titles with Baltimore in 1958 and 1959.
