Environmental dilemma over sunken Argo Merchant oil
A UPI report says a National Response Team urged further work to determine if up to 1.3 million gallons of oil remain in the bow of the sunken Argo Merchant off Nantucket. Divers have not yet reached the wreck due to weather as Coast Guard officials weigh options from leaving the bow, to blowing it up, or using a hottap method to extract oil. Massachusetts officials welcomed a cautious approach and funded consultant guidance while cleanup crews stay on site.
