Mt Snow fights state over pollution ruling and shutdown risk
Mt Snow General Manager John Christie disputed Vermont Water Resources Board actions claiming the ski area has tried to meet cleaning standards but faces possible court action to stop treated effluent discharges. The district plant plan and deadlines complicate the maneuver, with potential shutdown of base lodge facilities if injunctions proceed while the Fire District No. 1 plant weighs in. Christie notes delays by state agencies and asserts existing treatment reduces pollution, with penalties up to 10000 dollars per daily violation.
