Lady Sings the Blues review profiles Diana Ross as Lady Day

Geoffrey Chapman credits Diana Ross with a powerful portrayal in Lady Sings the Blues, praising her singing and acting while noting the film departs from Billie Holiday's life. The review cites supporting performances by Billy Dee Williams and Richard Pryor, and predicts an Oscar nomination for Ross. It notes Legrand's score but critiques the soundtrack's emotional impact and the film's focus on drama over musical authenticity. The screening is at Cinema I Mammoth Mart and may extend beyond Tuesday.
