Report on Woosick Falls Fire Department 1872 annual review
Trustee Arthur Hyde presented the retiring Fire Chief George Peer's annual report to Hoosick Falls village board. The department answered 38 calls, six fewer than last year, with five non fire calls and a mix of fires and false alarms. Losses totaled about 11 000 dollars, near the 10 year average, and one record of 79 consecutive days without a call was noted. The report praises department efficiency despite apparatus failure, notes a new fire pumper due late spring, maintained older vehicles, and welcomes new volunteers. The alarm system needs repairs but is deemed worth the cost, and thanks are extended to trustees and mayor. Board chair Hyde lauded Chief Peer’s work. Mayer Severson suggested a letter of appreciation for Peer’s service after his term as chief ended.
