The annual meeting of the United Church of Dorset and East Rupert drew a full turnout of stalwarts and six of the church’s twelve new members welcomed this year.
Williams College hosts a five week Summer Institute for secondary history teachers from June 27 to August 1 directed by Dr. Robert G. L. Waite under the National Defense Education Act. The program accepts 50 teachers from New England and New York, with some administrator applications considered.
Hoosick Falls New York Rev Alfred J Ellis OSA moderator calls a special meeting of Altar Rosary Society officers at the Church of the Immaculate Conception rectory to plan 1966 activities. Officers named include Miss Mary E Doyle president and new and re elected officers listed. Communion Sunday is the fourth Sunday and a January 24 meeting will include Rosary Benediction Litany and divine praises with refreshments.
Hoosick Falls health center auxiliary met January 11 with Mrs. Raymond Hogan presiding. Members read thanks for gifts and Christmas tree trimming. A nominating committee for April was named. Since November, 516 cancer dressings and 30 johnnies have been turned out. Next meeting February 8 at 2 pm. The unit seeks old sheets and asks contributors to call 686-7282.
The Ladies Auxiliary of the Hoosick Falls Lodge of Elks held an annual memorial service for eight deceased members including Mrs. Donald Noble and Mrs. Bernard Savalonis during a Wednesday meeting. They approved up to 300 for clubhouse equipment, voted a donation to the Town of Hoosick Community Center, and named Mrs. Charles Frazier chair of a January 29 Elk of the Year dinner with a covered dish format. Mrs. Walter Wirmusky heads the social committee. refreshments followed by several members attending.
North Bennington St John s Sodality members held a December meeting in the library with a covered dish supper and gift exchange. Prefect Mrs Lew Levin led a business session on standardizing the Little Office for monthly Sodality Communion Mass, while Mrs Leo Keough and Mrs Gerald McCue showed travel slides. A birthday cake for Mrs Keough and Mrs Philip Roach capped the evening, baked by Mrs Edward Nash, with committee members Mrs Levin Mrs George Young and Mrs John Flood.
Hoosick Falls Troop 64 BSA held a program planning meeting at the parish hall a week ago Sunday night. Attendees marked as February alternates an invitational ski tournament at Brattleboro and ski jumping and bobsled events at Lake Placid. Meetings are set for the first Sunday night each month at 7. Luke Fleming and Richard Severson attended. the session was led by John Barber, junior assistant scoutmaster.
